Basic Info

Type:
Description:
1st Newquay Scout Group has been providing Scouting to the young people of Newquay, Cornwall, United Kingdom since it was formed way back in 1911. The Group has a Beaver Scout Colony, a Cub Scout Pack and a Scout Troop. We are also heavily associated with the Newquay Area Explorer and Network units. We provide a challenging programme of adventure each month, this could be anything from Hiking, Crafts, Environment, Outdoors, Canoeing, Swimming, Wide games, Climbing, Hiking and much much more. The Cub Pack and Scout troop usually have two main camps during the year, one at Easter and another in the Summer, as well as several overnight camps during the year.

We believe that through adventure we challenge individuals so that they learn and experience new things that enrich their lives.

We encourage members both past and present to join the Facebook group, and any other person connected with Scouting

On the 24th of April 2008 it is 1st Newquay's 60th Anniversary of reforming after the war, the group is planning to hold a reunion for any ex 1st Newquay Scout during this time.

The current Scouts of 1st Newquay are keen to see all the old uniforms going back in time so we are looking for ex scouts who may be able to bring in their uniforms maybe even wear them.

Part of the reunion will be a ceremony at Roy Roberts Memorial at Trenance Boating Lake where we are going to add is Wifes name to his plaque.

Any ex member, new or old will be welcome. More details will be released near the time but if your interested please add the date to your diaries and let us know if you want to come.

today the Scouts layed Wreaths on the Rough Tor Memorial 11th November 2007, the Scouts made the Wreaths themselves and walked up in the rain to lay them. The plaque reads...

Rough Tor on which this memorial is placed has been given to the nation in memory of those who lost their lives while serving in the 43rd (Wessex) division in the north-west European campaign 1944/45.
